In 2004, I sold the technology company I founded and was contemplating the next phase of my career. I had worked in technology for 20 years, but I come from a family of real estate entrepreneurs, and it has always been my passion. I decided I wanted to make real estate investing more than just a hobby; I wanted to make it my focus.
Using market experience and analytical discipline, I began acquiring properties, and by May 2006, Windmill Investments had grown as a company and had a 10 million dollar portfolio. Utilizing this same investment approach, we were able to anticipate the recession in 2006 and stepped back from major acquisition while successfully maintaining and growing the assets we had. This set us up to be able to invest heavily again in 2009 when quality properties were available for
low prices.
Windmill Investments now has a portfolio of almost $150,000,000 and in the last 5 years, every asset we have purchased has outperformed. Additionally, rental demand has continued to grow since our inception and is at the strongest we have seen it in our company history.
From the inception of Windmill, the most fundamental principle to me has been creating open, honest relationships with our investors. Our investors come first and we’ve always believed in success-based compensation, not high upfront or management fees. Moving forward we will continue to hold true to our trusted partnerships and successful investment strategies so that our investors see maximum returns and growth.
